Almost organized…

I am not sure about anyone else, but I need to be organized. A place for everything, and everything in it’s place.

Moving really challenges me in this aspect. When I walk into a room, and everything is helter-skelter, my thoughts become chaotic. Where do I begin? It’s exhausting trying to find something when you don’t know where it is. I feel so out of control when I things aren’t organized.

This past week, I got my pot rack up on the wall and the pots off the kitchen counter. We ordered a shelf and baskets to organize my office/craft/sewing stuff. Toilet paper and towels were placed onto an old bookshelf in the bathroom since I apparently thought we didn’t need a linen closet when I designed the house. Boxed books were separated and organized on shelves based on topics, and outdoor cushions were removed from the corner of the living room and neatly stacked in a waterproof deck box on the patio. My dad and I even made time this week to fill our planter boxes with compost, plant some veggies and mark out where we want the rose bushes to go. Yup. I even organized the garden!

My mind is actually at peace again when I walk into the house. I still have a small punch list of things to finish for the house, including, yes, shelves to organize the garage. In the meantime, I have moved back into build mode getting estimates and bids for finishing our shop. Once that is done, I can tackle organizing the shop and the tool box.

If you find yourself getting frustrated when you walk in a room, look around. Is there a place for everything, and everything in its place? Maybe there should be. I hope you find your peace of mind in an organized home.
