Red in the morning…

Red in the morning, sailors take warning. That’s one of many of the sayings my father regularly spouts. The gorgeous sunrise this morning made me think of him. He is full of sayings.

For instance, when asked if he would like to go do something, the response is “Why not? Too wet to plow, rain hurts the rhubarb.”

In answer to the age old complaint by children everywhere, “I’m bored”, the response is “stand on your head and spit wooden nickels”.

“What are we having for dinner” usually elicits “Mushroom pie”.

Eating spinach will “grow hair on your chest”.

But I think my favorite saying of all, comes when I say, “Good night dad”, and he responds with “Love Ya”.

In case you don’t have someone around to say it, “Love ya!”
